Humanity

Humanity

As a child, I grew up

hearing stories of pious  saints and great men

My mother would fill my bookshelf

with biographies of saints and great people.

Everyday I read it and resolved

I would be one among them

practising what they did in their life.

My determination grew each day

like wave upon wave in ocean.

All that I did was practising

the lifestyle the great men followed!

Now I’m grown up and realized

I’ve wasted my precious time

practising what others practised

never practising anything  new on my own.

Off the bookshelf I threw the books,

living a life of my own conception,

doing what felt happy to my heart

never ruing  of the outcome!

From that day onwards,

I stood up for humanity,

Forgetting my own religion,

Loving the downtrodden,

feeding the hungry,

nursing the lepers,

helping the old-aged,

parenting the orphans,

Since then, I believed in humanity

humanity becoming my religion,

all people on earth being children of God

who did not separate them at birth.

Cursed are those,

who divide mankind by religion,

squeezing the belly of the poor,

to be a threat to the mankind.

Hate those who love religion

love those who love humanity,

let’s make this world

a beautiful place once again,

where humanity has the first place!

P.L.!  Great write!  I see your point of view.  "Religion" is man-made and people ultimately are dominated by the denomination they belong to.  This wasn't the intention of God.  It is too bad that people define faith byway of ritual, laws and their own traditions.  However, what you have decided to do is clearly in the scripture:  "Love your neighbor as you love yourself"…there is no greater commandment than this!

With regard to "religion";  again…I believe you are exemplifying the scripture…"Pure and undefiled religion before God is this:  to visit orphans and widows in their trouble and to keep oneself unspotted from the world."…which is, as you have said, standing up for humanity.

Blessings to you and yours!

Thanks Eleby for your support and encouragement. Just thinking and thinking and doing nothing, we can not reach anywhere. Hope, it would be helpful in opening the inner vision of those people, pretending to have eye-sight but in fact blind by-heart and sight.
