" HUMBLED HUNTSMAN "

As I studied the huntsman
I could sense the tension in his focus
The prey, a quixotic meerkat.
Placing the dart in it's seamless chamber
He turned the dial on his scope,
And held his breath for steadiness
As a bead of sweat,
Slowly making it's way down his forehead
Began to distract him.
He thought to himself,
"I'll be damned if I miss this chance!"
So just as the sweat reached for his eye
He loosed the perfectly aimed dart
Only to find, after wiping his eye,
The meerkat had died.
The harmless dart
Had struck him in the eye,
The huntsman cried inside
For THIS,
Was not his intention.....

Hey t this is a very different write from you . A hunter with a conscious is very possible. I cannot imagine being a hunter myself unless we are In the end times I don't see that happening for me anytime soon. Great write hugs to you rock

Hopefully you are your write inside... I hate killers of animals...but I felt the huntsman's feelings in your write...what was his intention?...you gave a very good poem with question's and sadness in it's field...almost like us human's and our daily disruptive life...

Thanx TINA!!!.........I too do not believe in harming animals..........the intent in this piece was for the hunter to get a dart in the Meerkat so that he could be tagged not killed........and then released.........but the sweat made his shot hit the Meerkat in the eye.........which of course .......was not his intention.........thanx for checking this out my friend!!...........smiles.........T xo
