Hung the Moon

They say,
You could have hung the moon,
If you wanted to,
Painted the grey sky blue,
Covered up,
Took all the bad things,
Took them away,

Thoughts I’d left behind,
I often think of you,
In the honey suckle,
Meadows of my mind,
In the solar eclipse of my youth,
When days were long,
And full of possibilities,

When all I could see,
Where your big brown eyes,
Beckoning me on and on,
Opening up my heart,
With love that burnt hot like the sun,
