Hurricane

Breaking news the tv blares out 
People start to scream and shout 
Yelling what it’s all about 
Hurricane james has just touched down 

People run fearing for their lives 
Men, woman, and children are all at risk
But the weather doesn’t care as it starts to lift 
It leaves behind destruction and mayhem 
An open wasteland like an etcha sketch 
That has just been shaken

Trees ripped from their roots 
Cars upturned lay on their roofs
Houses torn apart brick by brick 
Electricity lines lie in the road going click, click
People on makeshift boats feeling sick 

Metal  that has been twisted turns rusty 
Eyes of the people start to go misty 
They look out onto the carnage
Bits of their home  float to the shore 
The dying wind blows open a broken door 
Pulling over a broken wall .

Dead animals line the streets 
People run around with nothing on their feet 
Clambering over obstacles 
That the wind has left in its retreat 
Making their journey quite a feat 

Sirens flash in the distance 
Helicopters come to their aide 
People from around the world 
Come together 
Especially those with a trade .
