hypothermia

i miss you and i long for you most days
i remember your body's shape and texture
its precise temperature and pressure
against my chest
two hearts high-fiving each other-
keeping time with life;
two chests expanding into one another,
growing off the other's warmth.
there was time
time enough
time for more
a moment outside time
to recall when inside time,
when our chests have
gone their separate ways,
huddling their own warmth

Hmmmm...
This is one of the primary reasons I have sworn off a romantic kind of love all together, Marcus.
I have no use for it whatsoever.
I mean, who needs the heartache?
When you get right down to brass tacks, "Love" is simply "Lust" with a much heftier price tag attached.
Gimme friends with benefits–that's all I need.
Nice writing.
Welcome to Cosmo.

Thanks, Dean. Actually, the poem was inspired by platonic friendship. I just attached the romantic label, assuming that's what others will read into it anyway. Messy and complex, I agree.
Love is grand without it life is so deprived, so fight for it, keep it safe - it is what we were
created for ❤️
You're more than welcome, Marcus.
Best wishes,
~Dean ?
