I AM BLACK

 
I am the night despised by many
Because their stare cannot pierce 
My God given blackness and awesome wisdom 
That silently overflows on the backside 
Of the sun 

I am His creation 
Separated from the day
Darker in tone but never alone 
I am the canvas that reflects 
His glorious wisdom and awesome power in the nights sky
I am black

Where are the stars in the day sky
Can you see them in their wonderful clusters
Sparkling in heavens domain 
But like their multitude unexplored 
You resent my name
For I am black

I lend to the moonlight 
Allowing its gaze to mesmerize your eyes 
Causing you to wonder about the great beyond 
I am black but not weaker than the day
It is I that you lay your tiredness on
After the day is gone 

Yes I am black
Created with a God given purpose 
Not a tyrant or a curse 
But because of your ignorance 
Daily I must endure your hostile intentions 
And my blackness will forever be exposed 
To the anger of the sun's rays 
And at times even worse
For I am black.
