Poem -

I am not alone

I am not alone

the night is falling
my left fist clenches
it suppresses anger
with my right hand I rub it
I caress it, I give it calmness
I put my hands together and
repeat to myself
I am not alone, I am not alone

the prayers of my hands
fail to comfort my ears
a shiver runs down my back
although my eyes
find no company
I know that I am not alone

my arms, seeking warmth
settle on my chest
I stretch my legs out
I cross them, I fold them
my feet get frustrated
inside my shoes

the night is falling
it's dying of cold and loneliness
my mouth is dry
from the bitter taste of nothingness
I'm going to close my eyes
I dream of playing again
in my childhood playground
running in the rain
picking up little balls of hail or
watching the rain fall, curled up
in my mother's arms

the night may be long
but I am not alone
all I feel is cold
