I Am Wolf..

She walks through the door, but it’s as nothing…..
Except to me..
Head low, eyes down, coat still wrapped tightly round,
she doesn’t see me…
Heavy strides into her room the door closes swiftly.
The world now outside….me too
I know she will be on her bed, curled and small,
quilt covering all..
No sound..just the crushing weight of a splintered heart
and the need to return back to her earthly start.
Back to the sanctuary of the womb
the inviolability of protection guaranteed.
My role to protect her then, as now, immeasurably strong..
I feel her pain,
yet unsure how
to ease it…
Tomorrow things will hurt less, her adult life moves on.
Only I will see her hidden wounds
and know she will tend them alone.
But I am here…
Always here…
Like a she-wolf with her cub.

No one likes seeing their child hurting.......hear me growl !!!!
Love this ink...simple and yet tells the story of life and love beautifully! well done
Thanks StevieC xx
Love and life summed up beautifully. A well written piece of work.
Dear Kieran, no matter what else we are doing ..life carries on with it’s joys and sorrows, it’s ups and it’s downs..Thanks so much for your kind words xxx

You're right, dear Lodigiana.
No one enjoys seeing their child hurting.
When we do our instinct as a parent is to bare our fangs, knead our claws to a razor sharp point then rip the source of their hurt into a million bloody shreds.
Of course, that sort of behavior is frowned upon in most "civilized societies".
Still, getting hurt is a part of growing up and what doesn't kill us only serves to make us stronger.
At the risk of sounding cliché.
Well penned, as usual.

I can always rely on you Dean to cut to the chase and say things as they are ...and I am right with you my friend!!!..love sometimes defies 'civilized behaviour' and I think that is no bad thing.... I sometimes think we are all becoming anaesthetised to reacting to natural instinct hence the reason some of us might be considered slightly'off kilter'!! and actually I prefer it that way :) Thank you, as always. for taking time to comments xx
Lodigiana
I enjoy it that way too, Lodigiana.
You're very welcome.
I've posted a few new poems myself...if you can find the time.

My Dear Lodigiana,
I live in darkened secrecy
She knows not that I am near
I live for her protection
I exist to quell her fears
.
Only I can see inside of her
Know the pain of all her wounds
I will stay with her forever
She is the cub within my womb
All my love,
Larry xxx
Dear Larry so sorry for my tardy reply but I have been out of the Country for a few days and with little internet access!!! Such a delight to read this on my return and thank you so much for your beautifully constructed poem..♥
