Poem -

I Asked for Love

When I asked for love,Ā
That I might hold it in abundanceĀ
I was given weakness
That I might succumb to it.Ā

And though I asked for love,Ā
Love never once asked for me.Ā
I had not known love,Ā
But love knew well of me.Ā

I asked for compliance with love,Ā
Though it never once held favor.Ā
And while I could notĀ
Bring myself to love,Ā
She loved me.

For things in Life,Ā
Which I love most
I cannot hold.
The things in lifeĀ
Which I hold presently,
I must not love.
