I Did Not Fall in Love With a Man
I did not fall in love with a man,
I fell in love with a sharp wit,
and a quick smile.
I fell in love with an easy laugh,
and kind eyes.
I did not fall in love with a man,
Nor his quick tongue,
What I did fall in love with,
Was a soul that was unquestionably favorable to my own,
And with that soul came a happiness that my years have never seen,
Nor will ever see again,
Except in dreams of forgotten years,
And shards of broken memories.
