I Don't Believe.

Oooooooh  William, you are sticking your neck out here!  So far out I fear your head may be removed (metaphorically speaking if course). A very brave write but it is one I agree with in part.  I agree religion IS man made. Humans make things up to make themselves feel better...always have done, always will do. Havent got an answer? Then look for one. Trouble is we rarely find a diamond ring beneath an upturned rock. And seeing things doesnt work either because we see all sorts of things where we feel the need (I once saw a dragon in the sky...it was made up of clouds but I am sure it was a dragon). Humans have an overwhelming need to feel they "belong" couple this with their innate ability to "find the truth" and you have religion...all of them. Religion argues with itself constantly. It cannot decide what is best worn as a pendant. A crucifix? The star of David? A pentacle? (You get my drift). Everyone's god is the right one and hell (see what I did there?) religion doesnt seem to know exactly how many gods there are! How many actually are there? Depends on which religion you swear by. Oh the arguments religion causes! I dont believe in religion. The Pope does NOT have a "hotline to god" he (and when do we get a female Pope...I feel the Godess would want that) is no more of a special human being than the Palestinian freedom fighter or the Jewish tailor, or the Chinese rice farmer  or the homeless person seeking shelter in a doorway in some place in the world. The Pope is just some guy who got lucky in his chosen career path (one he chose himself).  FAITH on the other hand is different. I believe in faith. Faith is important. Faith is the glue which holds all our brokeness together. Faith is Hope's big sister. And the good thing about faith is that it can be in anything...it doesn't matter what you believe in as long as you believe in something. We should have the freedom to believe in what we believe in and we should have the good grace to respect the faith of others. The important thing is we all get along and have enough Faith to hold all our broken pieces together. I raise a glass to FAITH, religion can go fuck itself.
