I Killed An Ant And Cried

I Killed An Ant And Cried

This morning on the kitchen floor, roamed a very large black ant;
In days of yore, I would have stomped on it, my no bug policy adamant!
But twenty years ago my mores changed, to a Buddhist  mentality;
Never to harm a living thing, so I allowed it to run free!
.
But fifteen minutes later, I looked down to a saddened sight;
The precious pismire lay lifeless, squashed by my foot’s might!
I realized I had accidently killed it, this little entity that I’d wanted to survive;
Bringing tears to know that just a while ago, it had been so ardently alive!
.
.
Revere all creatures
No matter how small they be
So sacred is life

My Dear Gwen,

Thank you so much for your heartfelt comment, letting me know that there are others who feel that no matter how minute a living entity is, it's life should be revered.
