I Kissed A Falcon

I Kissed A Falcon

For Tony Taylor
.
She was a young and lovely Peregrine, that came my way that day;
As my left arm lifted, she flew to it, and gently on it stay!
She looked at me with her piercing eyes, that said, “I’ve found my truest love”;
I felt my soul connect to hers, as bells pealed from high Above!

.
I mounted on my mighty steed, upon my shoulder she sat perched;
We rode five miles to my country home, lined with age old Oaks and Birch!
I fed her rabbit, beef, and quenched her thirst, that first of seven thousand days;
For she stayed with me for twenty years, before she flew away!

.
Every day I took her to rolling meadows, set her loose, high skies to soar;
She’d see birds in flight and fast give chase, scare them to their core!
But for her it was just a game she played, did it only for the thrill;
She’d veer off at the last moment, for she never them would kill!

.
She still comes often now to visit me, in sleep, I see her and I cry;
She has an extra set of wings, this Angel by my side!
She bends her head to touch my lips, and bestows me with a kiss;
Her eyes tell me someday I’ll come, to join her in eternal bliss!

.
.
                                I kiss a falcon
                        As she dives into my soul
                              We bond forever

My Dear Brother Tony,

I am sure that in a past life, you had a dear falcon that you loved, by the way that they connect deep within you.  It was my pleasure to write and dedicate this to you, for I vicariously felt this great love for a man and his treasured falcon.  Thank you for your beautiful words.  They mean so much to me.

Peace, Love and Vitalis,

I loved this, Larry! A fine, well crafted piece. But it ended and I  wanted to keep reading more!
✴You made me want to go right out and get me a falcon! ?

My Dear Gayle,

I am so happy that you enjoyed it.  I dedicated it to Tony, because it is his dream someday to have one.  Looks like he could have a fellow Falconiere.

Hugs, Peace and Love,

Larry, my dear friend...

love   borne on the wing
enraptured by a raptor
but Icarus falls

I know it's not quite the same thing, but a few months ago...I was stalked by an eagle!!

My Dear Friend Jason,

Wow Jason, that must have been terrifying.  I was stalked once by an eagle too, but mine was a well decorated Boy Scout that had a crush on me!

Your Haiku is so beautiful, that just for today, I'm going to let the lines above be my reply.

Peace and Love,

My dear Larry...
It wasn't terrifying...it was really rather magical.
And, for the record, it was a REAL eagle!! Flesh, blood, hollow bones and all!!!

your friend & fan,
J ;)

Larry this was an amazing tribute write to a good man. I absolutely love and enjoyed this poem, it was beautifully written and so well worded in rhyme.....it was like it was meant to be. The immense talent bled from your pen in this write. Very inspiring my friend, I had to pin this. Glad I was able to catch this one and read it. Peace and love.

My Dear Friend Devon,

Our dear Tony laid the ground work for my words.  I felt his love for these beautiful birds, thus, making it very easy for me to create a Renaissance scenario about a man and his falcon soulmate.  As we the poets write, we are inspired by our fellow artists, who plant the seeds of our fruition.  Your lovely words have moved me deeply.

Peace and Love,
Larry xxx
