I Know What Love Is

I met this girl named Ana who told me to be perfect
She stuck with me as the numbers fell and kept me from the truth
Always whispering in my ear the nasty thoughts of pain
I took the blade across my wrist every time I let her down
The scars on my wrist tell a story of our friendship
As messed up as it seems
And this is not a tragedy, but the story of my light
Details of my past do not phase him in the least
He saw the pain in my eyes and has done his best to make me better
He fought the dark and now I see a life that's worth living
I no longer wish to call Ana a friend of mine
But her haunting words of perfection still numb me to the core
Some days I think you'd be better off without
Then he comes in to save me
"You may not be perfect to yourself, but I swear you're perfect to me."
So it may be true that nothing hurts when you're dead
But nothing hurts when I'm with him
