I Remember...

Childhood Memories

I Remember...

I remember our innocent dreaming:
Fresh snow white and rose pink blossoms in spring,
Great oak trees under which we used to hide
And rainbows illuminating bleak skies.
I imagined sailing on deep blue oceans
Of the most immaculate, teeming visions.
And I perceived blood red roses, endlessly.
Blooming in open fields, that were evergreen.
I recall golden summers when we were free,
When Time moved so slowly and life was easy.
I remember gardens with painted swings:
Where we played and birds always seemed to sing.
I recall rich night-skies studded with stars,
And soft enchanting voices from afar,
That arrived to reassure us that all
Manner of things would be well. O they called
On us to live for the moment, and keep
Darkness at bay, so we could snugly sleep!
Although those days are long gone, I'll still hold
On to them when I become grey and old.
