I WAS A TREE

The wind caresses my branches
Squirrels nibble on my nuts
Men with chain saws surround me
All they want is a piece of me

I listen as their infernal machines
Break natures silence
My bark weeps as they strip me bare
My branches lay on the ground around me
Im stood now almost bare

Axes sharp to follow
As they swing to and fro
Holding to ropes tightly
As im lowered to the ground lightly

Loaded on to waiting vehicles
Tied and strapped real tight
My journey is nearly over
As i travel through the night
Finally at destination
Unstrapped and hauled away

The infernal noise is back again
As im cut into measured strips
This is the end of my journey
No more tree am i
natures dream has died
Just strips of wood  left behind

I lay in total silence wondering
What will become of me
Maybe a chair or a table
I guess in time we’ll see

Broken

Lost
Fearful, afraid
Trees sway, brace,
catching the breeze, owls
toot and hoot...

Nobody to be saved

Washed ashore
Blood drips from salt encrusted rock
Body bloated, two feet one sock
