I Was A Turtle Once

I was a stone, in the hand of a boy.
The boy threw the stone, where he thought it should go.

The stone struck the ground, and it laid all alone.
The boy got bored, and long since went home.

What the boy didn't know,is that I wasn't a stone.
The thing that he hurdled, was a tiny box turtle.

And I was a turtle, who was voyaging home.
Mistaken for a stone, I was picked up and thrown.

I was not a stone, but a hurdled turtle, a poor little soul, who was voyaging home.

I was picked up and thrown, now I am so far from where I was determined to go.

And so begins the longer voyage home...
