Poem -

I Will Never

I Will Never

I will never bow my head,
To those who seek to overcome.
I will never yield my ground,
To any who trespass carefree.
I will never speak of ills,
Of my family and friends.
I will never kneel before,
False kings and baubles.
I will never band with bullies,
Cowards and low moral fibre.
I will never beg mercy or seek solace,
From multitude Gods.
I will fight them forever,
I will never, never give up.
And if the odds are unsurmountable,
Then I and many others will die trying.
For a good death is its own reward.

Dedicated to my late father Leonard.

Pratibha thanks for your kind comments and I appreciate them.
And my late father and mother for that matter never did write any poetry, my mother was the teacher of our family regarding reading and the classics, also crosswords and those word puzzle books when I was a kid.
And it was Ella Wheeler Wilcox's poem called The Two Glasses which  bowled me over after reading when I was 12 years old and started writing then.
It is an amazing poem and one of my favourites by my favourite poet.
And my late father taught me how to box, to stand up for myself and never suffer fools gladly and respect people for even wayward people can change.
He taught me hope.
And just to let you know as from tomorrow I'll be away for two weeks and it's long overdue and we're seeing good friends up in Harlech and fingers crossed we can finally visit The Channel Islands, especially Sark which has banned transport and the people who are so fortunate to live there, are so honest and caring, it also has this beautiful garden called La Seigneurie Gardens and also a great pub called The Mermaid Tavern.
So I'll raise my glass and make a toast to and be inspired by such a magical island.
Thanks again Pratibha and see you soon and all the good poets who like my late dad, inspire me and generously offer hope day after day on this uplifting site my friend.❤️

Hello Shaun,
this is such a touching write you have gifted to your late father. Instilled within you is a mindful, loving human, with good morals and loyalties. It shines in your words. I am sure he must look down, beaming with pride, maybe even in awe of your ability to extend those admirable feelings into poetry, to share your wisdom with others.

A beautiful tribute 💗
