"I Wish..."

"I wish" 

Society isn't as it used to be.

We are far from a perfect society, 

But what is a perfect society? 

We sit down and we think,

About all the things we wish we could change,

"I wish" the very pigment of ones skin..

Didn't determine how everyone else would see them,

Judge them, this isn't a audition for a popular tv show..

This is life. "I wish" I didn't have to lock my doors every night in fear of having my most prized possessions, snatched from me by an evil hand. "I wish" I didn't have to worry about my very child walking the streets at night because some dark and twisted person could take her and abuse her innocence...

"I wish" I could sit on my front steps and not have worry about a stray bullet piercing my heart and taking me away from all of my loved ones... One squeeze of a trigger and just like that your on the ground sometimes not even knowing the person behind the gun. "I wish" the wealth of a person didn't make the person themselves any less or more valuable then another,

Because in this society money is power.. But nothing makes sense.

Society is not perfect and it needs to be fixed. 

There are to many people saying "I wish"

Rather than "let's change" 

Because we're scared... We need to take action 

Rather then standing by and letting this happen 

But what are we to do..

Who will listen to me? 

I'm just an irrelevant pinhole dot compared to this huge universe.

But what we need to understand is,

One voice can change millions of thoughts

Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Susan B. Anthony, Malala Yousafzai. 

Excuses are just lies you tell yourself because you don't feel like making a change. 

No matter your history, age, size, or skin color...

Someone will always be around to listen. 

We need to get off our social media and the cell phones that seem to be glued to our hands and preach our wishes...

And maybe, just maybe one day...

Our wishes will become changes. -Anonypoet
