I WISH I COULD

I wish i could speak of love
The way others do
Painting colorful picturesÂ
With their emotions bleeding throughÂ
I wish I could... but I can'tÂ
I wish I could share my childhood experiencesÂ
With loving parents always by my side
Or a picnic on a beautiful summers dayÂ
With family and friendsÂ
Playing games in the rainÂ
I wish I could... but I can'tÂ
I wish I could experience loveÂ
The way others do
The childlike smiles and warm embraceÂ
Gazing into each other's eyesÂ
And stroking my lovers face
I wish I could.. but I can'tÂ
I wish I could sing a beautiful love songÂ
That the world could sing alongÂ
Or write a poem that captures the imaginationÂ
Of literary worldÂ
Having my name in lights and going on a book tour
I wish I could... but I can'tÂ
I was born with a cleft palateÂ
A facial scar many hearts cannot embraceÂ
They turn their heads away from meÂ
With the first glance of my faceÂ
My limbs are deformed and my voice comes and goesÂ
And three days after I was born
I was left at the side of the road
I wish I was beautifulÂ
Like all the other people in the worldÂ
I wish I was accepted from the time I was bornÂ
I wish I was able to change myselfÂ
I wish I could.. but I can't.

This poem is just so sad, Wilford! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and comes from within x
Isn't it true that many feel this way about themselves..
some may Express it verbally.. while others keep it hidden inside. .
Thanks for reading and commenting on this piece Being Me.
Sadly it is true. We live in a pretty shallow world but those who know the true depths know true beauty x
Well said my cyber friend.
