I Wish Time Would Give Us More Time

Within seconds you changed my life,
While minutes passed your infancy began,
As hours flowed you produced a smile,
That not even the sun could set in.

As days progressed you did as well, 
Mentally and physically,
If only I could have slowed the weeks down,
Because to me they came to quickly.

Cause within a month, I heard your beautiful laugh,
And now your two months from being a year,
I wish time would give us more time,
Because you growing up was my biggest fear.

I cry every time I think about it,
Cause when a lustrum hits you'll just begin school,
And after a decade you'll soon open your eyes,
To a world that's complicated and cruel.

But mommy will always watch over you,
Even from behind the Golden Gates in a century,
Just know that no matter how old you get,
You'll forever be known as my baby.
