I WONDER

Is there a place for me
Somewhere in eternity
Or am i forever confined
To earths dusty caves.
Sprinkle my ashes over the land
For i am a child of the soil
An inheritor of wicked and evil deeds
A life defiled twice spoiled.
I hope my ashes take flight
Beyond the night of my short lived life
And may it find that true light
that brightens and comforts the soul.
I welcome the end of a life spent
By shattered dreams and dried up streams
Heartaches and pain not much gained.
For survival i endured the downpour of rain
and the blistering heat that caused me to forget my name
i took the blame and bare up under life's strain.
Now in sickness i await the call of my name
the call that makes friends and family cry
the call in which i say my forever and final good bye.
Is there a place for me in eternity
or will earths steel claw hands
forever seize my weary soul.
