I WOULD IF I COULD

Given every ounce of energy and even blood
Can't do more but I would if I could
Would cross a river in a monsoon or flood
Can't do that but I would if I could

I have tried to be patient and good
Can't do more but I would if I could
Tried to be superstitious by touching wood
Can't do that but I would if I could

I don't want you to think I'm misunderstood
Can't do more but I would if I could
Give me a chance I think you should
You can't do that but I would if I could

After my first read. Spotted one possible mistake in last verse. Was it meant to read, I don't want you? But loved it non the less.
