If only I could go back, to just sixteen years ago;
I would hold you close all day and night, “I Would Never Let You Go”!
Unlike when I used to leave you, for extended business trips;
Seeking fame and fortune, your hearts and Souls both ripped!

I sacrificed such tender times, that I should have spent with you;
My precious Angel Soulmates, who loved me very true!
I was hunting for hidden treasures, when I had such riches right at home;
And now that you’re both in Heaven, forever I atone!

I wish that you were young again, and full of youthful energy;
The three of us inseparable, you’d be ever next to me!
We would travel as a triumvirate, o’er the land, go to and fro;
Sharing all the times we should have spent, for “ I Would Never Let You Go”!

I know what you mean. My beloved cat, Charlie was such a blessing in my life. The cat actually woke us up when our gas stove was turned on accidentally. I have since got a new pet, another cat named Angel, who is a blessing. A new friend. Thanks Larry & Linda for sharing your story.
