Poem -

I Would Rather

I would rather be away
Far away
Than to feel a burden on you

I would rather be quiet
Silent as a mouse
Than let my words hurt you

I would rather be blind
Even if temporary
Than let my eyes see things
That would make me doubt you

I would rather be soft inside
Absorbing all you do
Than let my heart be hardened towards you

We are not always kind
Oftentimes I make you cry too
I believe our initial intentions
Were always true

Times pass
Things change
Love evolves
We falter
We feel chained
We often breakthrough

I would rather be a fool
One who forgives you
Than be alone missing you
Feeling blue

I would rather let hurt make me stronger
Than be afraid to set you free
To wander
To come back
One day
