I Write because I Write

I write because I write
not because of what others think
or what others may like
 
Whispers and snotty comments
the harsh judgment of it all seems
almost as if, in my writing, they took part in
living it
 
How can another take away from what
you wrote from deep within?
How can they justify that, when they
have not gone where you’ve been?
 
Is there a way to judge someone’s feelings?
Or maybe just when written?
I can’t seem to wrap my mind around
some who cannot listen
 
Listen to the words the writer spills
to the heart being poured out on paper at
will
 
I write this because some seem to negatively
criticize so easily
If they just understood that this is just another
writer trying to express their feelings equally
 
Just like they are right?
To see in a different light
What only they can bring
Is that not the same thing?
To write a poem they see to be true
Isn’t that what every writer is trying to do?
