Poem -

If I could

If I could

I spent the coin of lesser men
And then
In turn
I was spent
In that
 I learned
it was me
That was truly
Less

In the silence I shiver
An empty animal eyes that don't see
And ears that don't hear
Yet my skin will not be fooled
I feel fast and true the warmth of you
Even if ever changing minds will not commit
Constantly casting out opposition and opportunities
In consternation and feathered tips
So soft and increasing in insistence

The future is perfect because it
Never delivers you
Down the road you planned too
