If Only

If only twenty-three months ago, when you became so very ill;

Your Vet could have done what she did for little Cody, and got you over the hill!

If only she could have had some meds, to turn things all around;

And brought you back to health again, for more years to then abound!

If only you were still here with us, to fill our hearts with joy;

To kiss and love us every day, our angelic little boy!

If only we could walk again, o’er the paths you loved so much;

And I could give you back and tummy rubs, as you’d kowtow to my touch!

If only all your photographs, could come to life again;

And years more time together then, we would have to dearly spend!

If only dreams could become reality, and come so very true;

We’d never leave your side again, and spend each day with you!
