If Only

If only I had met you, three decades before;
My Soulmate intended, to love evermore!
But through three marriages I plodded, seeking love that was true;
When it should have been one, my Wedding with you!

Just imagine if we’d been united, when both were so young;
Had children together, sweet songs with them sung!
Our Souls ever mated, sixty years of pure bliss;
Our offspring’s dear children, we’d never had miss!

If only, my Linda, we could have been each other’s firsts;
Instead of the others, who quenched not our thirst!
You would not have been barren, robbed of fertility;
Instead you'd have children, that were fathered by me!

But for twenty-six years, our Souls have been bound;
I worship you Angel, and your walks on the ground!
Yet sometimes while thinking, I cry for what should have been;
Us united as teenagers, trading teardrops for grins!
