If I could be happy

For just another day

Then maybe, just maybe

I’d be able to say

“I love you” with a smile

“It’s fine” with honesty

“I forgive you” with a hug

Or “I miss you” and you’ll believe me

If I could be happy

For just another week

A lot more of my promises

I’d be able to keep

When I say “I’ll call”

I’ll actually follow through

And when I give you hugs

I would kiss you too

If I could be happy

For just another month

Then maybe I’d learn

To go out some

I’d hang out with my friends

And maybe a few dates with you

I’d be able to go out alone

And maybe do some shopping too

If I could be happy

For just another year

Maybe I could keep

From shedding a single tear

Maybe I could learn how

To smile and to laugh

To sing and dance again

And let go of my wrath

If I could live a life of happiness

Then I wouldn't live to die

I could relax and be enjoy life with you

I could learn to try

I could show kindness

I could show more love

I could act like your angel

That was sent from above

And not just think of such

Then I could do a lot more

And not use you as a crutch

I could love you more

And keep from simple sins

But most importantly

I could learn to live again
