If you go down to the zoo today???

On a lovely morning 
I took a trip to the zoo
I bumped into my friend
She had went there too

We came to the first enclosure pen
A troop of monkeys had made a playpark den
Two were hanging from a branch upside down
One was doing somersaults like a clown

The noises were funny
They were in a frenzied state
So we decided to move on at any rate

Pen number two was up a little hill
Peacocks stood in their splendour
They looked brill
Beautifully adorned with wings spread in the air
We took loads of photographs as we watched there

Walking on around a corner
There was an awful strong smell
There was a flamboyance of flamingos
With some penguins as well

Deep, rosy pink a pretty sight
Shame about the aroma
Coz they were bold & bright

I loved the Emperor penguin
With his ‘nun-like’ cloak
My friend & I were amused
As we mimicked his walk

Moving along & over a wooden bridge
A crash of hippopotamuses
Were below us in a ridge
Lazing lying on the muddy floor
We counted fifteen but there could have been a score

Next was the ginormous elephants
Not too far away
Trumpetting & grunting in an elephant way
Pushing their long, wrinkly trunks
Into the sky
This animal was my favourite
Though I’m not sure why

I loitered at the elephants my friend walked on
The enormous size of them
They must weigh a hefty tonne

I heard my pal shriek at a Lion’s roar
I caught her up before I saw a wild boar
Magestically stood domaining their land
These fearless beasts were bathing in some sand

Next it was the colossal cuddly
Polar bear
They were trying to hide behind a hillock unaware
But we noticed their white fur straight away
Baby polar bears were funny
As they jumped in play

Well it was time to go home
We were at the finish of the zoo
We had seen all the animals
& birdlife too
What a marvellous, entertaining day
I do recommend the zoo
I have to say
