Illuminator of worlds

I walk a lonely path 
In this world of shadows
And yet there's a light above
Shining down on me

At each moment I look
It seems to be waiting for me
It's light caressing this dark creature
Dispelling the shadows of doubt and regret from my face

With each step I still see the light surrounded by dark
And something strikes my attention
It's... laughter?

And I look up and there she is
The light to my darkened world
Waiting for me to take her hand
And to leave for the world of light

Then all of a sudden the sky splits open
And warm, gentle light flows from the bright scars
Illuminating everything that was hidden in the darkest corners
Showing me that my world was bigger than it seemed

So I reach out my hand, out towards the light
And the light grows brighter as it reaches out to me further
As this dark world crumbles our fingers barely graze
Causing a sense of desperation to hold on to each other
And I see her, she's screaming for me to hold on
But I can't hear her as everything was being muffled
And so I close my eyes with tears streaming down
As I whisper "I'm sorry" and feel both worlds slip away
And now some time has past and I hear her voice
"Open your eyes my love" is what I hear
And so I open them, and there she is
Her. The girl. The one that brought light to my dark world
