Illusions

Walking in the valley
My bare feet treading on clover
As my eyes reflect the earth
That the cloudless sky hangs over

Illusions I maintain
I pretend I can't see past
To barren landscapes filled with pain
and clover that is shattered glass

But how long until I cannot walk?
My bloody feet beyond repair...
The red sky laughing, looking down
The sun still mocking my despair

How long until I have to look
Past all the pretty lies?
And drown this valley in the tides
Of oceans in my eyes...

Just how long until I let
My heavy eyelids rest in place?
And let hollow night winds fill the void
Of air that I displace.

Monika Patten,

Good write, My nomination. I love the below lines

  • My heavy eyelids rest in place?
  • And let hollow night winds fill the void
  • Of air that I displace.
