Imagination

I can see my breath as I exhale.
The crisp morning air shows each detail.
I see little birds dance among the trees.
The robins song, the mourning dove;
their coo sets one at ease.
The painted rooftops;
they glisten in dawns morning sun.
The frost soon to melt, revealing each one.
My imagination takes me so very far away.
Back even further than present day.
To green meadows , wild flowers all around.
Laying naked, serenely on the warm damp ground.
Watching the crimson sky slowly turn blue.
Clouds drifting, their shapes and hue.
Beautiful butterflies, each one unique.
The furry honeybees, curiosity peaked.
The white swans fluttering wings as they gracefully land.
In the beautiful pond, oh so grand.
The blue Jays nest in the bare tree overhead.
Perhaps their day is done, resting their head.
I hear noises in the long flowing grass.
I sit quietly gazing, a whispered gasp.
A mother wolf and her littermates.
Glorious white fur, my heart palpitates.
They come and lay beside me in the grass.
Memories of times so long past.
She sniffs and howls, I look with astonishment.
My eyes closing, she continues providing acknowledgement.
The beautiful creature, finding her way.
I can't believe such an amazing day.
The babies continue, their turn to try.
Silly little ones attempting the cry.
They sound like funny little monsters that hide in the ruff.
Posturing and playing acting so tough.
They naw at my bare toes, as gentle as they can.
Do they realize, I'm related to man?
Where is her pack? She wonders alone.
With babies in tow, where's your home?
I inquired silently, to her I looked.
Her crystal blue eyes, her head she shook.
Was she alone? I wondered why!
Suddenly her pack ran over, to my surprise.
Such amazing strength, to me they came.
Hustle and bustle as they played their game.
She, the alpha her head now next to mine.
A sense of peace, I was lucky to find.
I was one of her kits.
I possessed all her wits.
I howled as she did, in the early dawn.
The pack came, to me they were drawn.
This was only but a dream.
A reality in mind, it did seem.
I belonged here, in this moment of time.
To find my solice and peace of mind.
