Imperium
Who are such men? Nobody knows.
Theirs is an empire shrouded in shadows,
Who lead us across a worldwide disdain —
Narrative composers who embrace woes.
Some escape, some pursue, but all in vain:
To evade bloodshed or inescapable pain,
Yet such men whose visions have shaped our world,
Cannot see, nor conceive — still, they reign.
Who are such men, whose wisdoms hold,
Some purpose which has spread, and now grown bold,
Above an ocean of clouds where lies their lair,
Their chess game carries on; we were once told.
From all four corners as lives despair,
No nations nor cultures can longer bear,
Much which has crushed, as we have seen,
First had been planned; while we: unaware.
Who are such men — who lead our scene,
Who hide in shades,
Who go unseen,
Who wage wars,
Who end lives,
Who alter rules,
To cause us suchlike change as never been?
