In Dreams

In dreams you often come to me, like the two I had last night;
We were all together once again, and twice I held you tight!
You were young and filled with energy, my frisky little boys;
My heart and Soul were singing, replete with untold joy!

We romped and played our little game, that we so often used to do;
I got down low and made a growl, then chased the both of you!
Of course, you were too fast for me, I never could catch up;
But you’d stop and let me find you, then I’d kiss my little pups!

We used to do this every day, but memories are all I’ve left;
For my boy-boys have both departed, leaving their Daddy so bereft!
Yet, when I close my eyes for slumber, you so often return to me;
Then, for a little while, my tears subside, for so elated do I be!

You come in my dreams
And just like the days of yore
We share joy and bliss
