In Dreams I Walk With You

My precious Angel Nico, last night I had a dream;
About you and me together, in the forest, by a stream!
We were standing on a wide path, in a place with lots of trees;
All of a sudden you bolted, to chase a squirrel that you had seen!
.
But just before you overtook him, he scampered up a trunk;
You came racing back to sit by me, in a little doggie funk!
Then far off in the distance, you spotted a giant walking ape;
You went tearing off to nab him, your Daddy’s mouth agape!
.
When he saw you he started running, and found safety on some rocks;
But then my dream abruptly ended, it was two a.m. on the clock!
My tears were freely falling, I called out “Nico” several times;
So unhappy our together time was over, it had stopped right on a dime!
.
Yet suddenly I was so elated, to again have been right at your side;
Then I analyzed the meaning, of this dream that was implied!
The big ape was symbolic, of whom I used to call “my son”;
And my ever-faithful little Nico, had that monster on the run!

                        These most sacred dreams
                           We are together again
                             My true son returns
