In Her Own Words

My fiancee's aunt passed away unexpectedly yesterday on Christmas. While she was looking at poetry for lost loved ones I wrote this for her. She was a very special woman.ย
"In Her Own Words"
I am free
You must let me go.
I'm free to travel to a worldย
That is not my own.
I wasnt thereย
When the sun came up yesterday.
I wasn't there again today,
But I have not gone away.ย
Do not weep for meย
Trying to hold back the tears.
I only hope you know
Just how I loved youย
Through our many years.
Do not let your heart be troubledย
For when home calls the heart
I will be there.ย
If you could only seeย
That everything is better
When you no longer feel the pain
The burden you carryย
The tears you've criedย
Have not been in vain.ย
I will fight your worriesย
The what ifs of yesterdayย
Remember me for who I was
But I'm alive and well today.ย
I heard the somber call
It was a voice so soft though sweet
There was a man standing thereย
And he took me off my feet.
I hesitated for a momentย
But he knew what was bestย
This prayer is to you my dear friend
That you will learn while you will growย
And let your heart be at rest.ย

I thoroughly enjoyed the read my friend
Thank you My Sweet Friend. I'm used to writing more darker/mysterious poetry but I only did this one to honor her. She was a very loved woman.
