In love with a travelling man

Born in a forest,
So wild and so free.
He took to the outdoors,
So effortlessly.
The sounds and the silences,
The darkness and the light.
Nothing could stop his journey,
His life had taken flight.
He fought the odds around him,
The small minded and the lame.
He stood firm and grounded,
What a man he became.
Armed with so very little,
Life could have been so short and brittle.
A bag on his back,
A knife at his waist.
Nothing could stop this wild man,
From experiencing every taste.
His adventures are many,
He travels far and wide.
With all but a penny,
That and his pride.
His mind is always open.
His spirit eternally free.
Not a care in the world.
Just a beautiful curiosity.
A passion so deep,
He hardly finds the time for sleep.
A heart so vast,
He would never forget the past.
The sweet smell of plums,
Freshly plucked from the tree.
The slight sway of his bag,
It's many accoutrements hanging free.
His face always happy,
Slight crinkles across his skin.
Some would say scrappy,
I'd say brilliantly worn-in.
His beard so bright and bushy,
The beacon of all that is him.
His eyes deep and heavy,
Filled with the stories within.
His heart so big and strong,
Yet he struggles to be wrong.
A stubbornness that makes others smile.
If only for a short while.
He has touched many along his way,
They know he would never stay.
It's easy to remember him,
I do it everyday.
Missing him is harder,
The memories always floating around,
They manifest in creative ways,
There deep and profound.
This man so rare and beautiful,
His mind sometimes lost in it all.
You know who you are my dear,Β
You know where to find me,
Should your travels ever end,
Should time stretch out behind thee.
I'd hold you close and warm your bones,
But most of all remind you,Β
No matter my dear,Β
How many years shall disappear,
I shall always stay,
To remind you,
You are the man born in a forest,Β
So wild and so free.
I shall always remember and love you,
So very dearly.
