Poem -

IN THE END

Ones passing says it all
A brief pause to recall
Your life summary written by others
What you thought was accomplishments
They call it blunders

You dealt with life's struggles and pain
You've tried not to ruin the family's name
But in the end when your voice is silenced
Only what the living say about you is retained
After all, you are out of complaints

If you are lucky in death
You may get flowers
A short going home service
But a repast that can last for hours

Especially if your life insurance
Is paid in full
Someone may shed a tear
And will be happy to say your name out loud

Even though in life they resented you
Your silence speaks volumes
But there is nothing you can do

You are now under deaths restraint
So you lay there eyes closed
Six feet under
Unable to complain.

Wilford Barker.
