IN THE END

Ones passing says it allÂ
A brief pause to recallÂ
Your life summary written by othersÂ
What you thought was accomplishmentsÂ
They call it blundersÂ
You dealt with life's struggles and painÂ
You've tried not to ruin the family's nameÂ
But in the end when your voice is silencedÂ
Only what the living say about you is retainedÂ
After all, you are out of complaints
If you are lucky in deathÂ
You may get flowersÂ
A short going home serviceÂ
But a repast that can last for hours
Especially if your life insuranceÂ
Is paid in fullÂ
Someone may shed a tear
And will be happy to say your name out loudÂ
Even though in life they resented youÂ
Your silence speaks volumesÂ
But there is nothing you can doÂ
You are now under deaths restraint
So you lay there eyes closedÂ
Six feet under
Unable to complain.
