Inevitable
For my soldiers

How much does freedom cost,
Is it worth a brothers loss,
Laying in a hole praying not to make a sound,
Hoping the gods are watching like a shroud,
As they move all around us swiftly fleeting,
I refuse to move a muscle,
Even our hearts stopped beating,
Their closing in for the kill,
But than my battle said,
Dont bother shooting a bullet,
Since we’re already dead,
I paused for a second,
Thinking how much I regret this,
But I’m not ending up in chains,
Like the dogs on my necklace,
Grab a frag off the hip,
Proper grip thumb the grip,
I glared at battle,
Who looked back at me,
He asked why is the sky blue,
Because God loves the infantry.

Lovely write. Cheers!
Thank you.! The military has been very polarizing for me personally but it doesn’t mean I don’t understand the sacrifices my brothers and sisters have made. I’ll try to write more often once I’m back in garrison.
