“It’s only me love”

Her doctor told her what she did not want to hear
“Months, maybe’s weeks to live my dear”
Yes she was dying but she needed to celebrate
there was no time to dilly-dilly
and no reason to wait
So she opened her bureau and with paper and a pen
she wrote down words again and again
Places to visit with artefacts to see
with people to join her from her family
She wouldn’t tell them
No she didn’t want any fuss
yet she needed to see them
So she got on a bus
The strange thing about it was that she still felt fine
but she guessed she would deteriorate further down the line
“Ah well” she sighed looking out of the bus glass
reminscing the Doctors words as strangers sped amass
“It’s only me love” as she walked through the front door
her two daughters and her granddaughter was standing on the hall floor
“Hi Mum kettles just on” she was always popping in when all was said and done
So nothing was noticed
None of them had a clue
She was not going to tell them
No she didn’t want to
“Now girls what do you think”
“Should we all have a little holiday ?”
She smiled with a wink
They looked at each other with smiles on their faces
coz they knew that Mother loved visiting new places
Well short breaks and holidays were booked up that day with all of them excited coz they were going away
Since their dear Dad had past three years had went fast
Mother was always here, there and everywhere
She didn’t like to sit alone long in her chair
So if Mother wanted a change well that wasn’t strange and so very easy for them all to arrange
Nine months later Mother passed away
She died peacefully in her daughters chair one sad sunny day
