It's Over

It's Over

Why are these words the hardest to say?
And yet they are uttered worldwide everyday.
Why do they cause us to stammer and stall?
Despite being spoken, and heard, by us all.
Why do we squirm with discomfort and shame?
Try to appease by accepting the blame.
Why do we falter or struggle to start?
Acutely aware of how fragile a heart.
Why do we stay even though we are sad?
Rather than risk someone else feeling bad.
Why are we so scared to tell them the truth?
Lying, behind every pearly, white tooth.
Why do we bury our own needs away?
Why are these words the hardest to say?
