Jekkl by day, Hyde by night
Heckled sleep
I’m like Jekyll when awake,
Hyde when I’m asleep,
A split personality,
my mind takes a leap.
In daylight,
I’m a lovely bloke,
calm and serene,
But when the night descends,
an utterly different scene.
Jekyll and Hyde,
battling demons within my head,
One wears a smile,
the other’s filled with dread.
Daytime’s my refuge,
where kindness prevails,
But at night,
my dreams unleash these turbulent gales.
My partner lies beside me,
innocent and still,
Yet my subconscious takes over,
a force of will.
I kick,
thrash,
and hit out,
a phantom fight,
Punching the air,
shadows dancing in the night.
Jekyll and Hyde,
battling demons within my head,
One wears a smile,
the other’s filled with dread.
Daytime’s my refuge,
where kindness prevails,
But at night,
my dreams unleash these turbulent gales.
The wall beside my bed bears witness to my rage,
Bruised knuckles,
whispered curses,
a nightly stage.
Sleepwalking,
I roam through corridors unknown,
Lost in a labyrinth of memories overgrown.
Jekyll and Hyde,
battling demons within my head,
One wears a smile,
the other’s filled with dread.
Daytime’s my refuge,
where kindness prevails,
But at night,
my dreams unleash these turbulent gales.
And then there’s sleep-eating,
a nocturnal feast,
I wake to crumbs and wrappers,
a bizarre beast.
Chocolate smudges on my pillow,
evidence clear,
As if my alter ego craves sugar,
But also fear.
Jekyll and Hyde,
battling demons within my head,
One wears a smile,
the other’s filled with dread.
Daytime’s my refuge,
where kindness prevails,
But at night,
my dreams unleash these turbulent gales.
So here I am,
caught between two worlds,
Juggling sanity and chaos as the night unfurls.
Jekyll and Hyde,
forever intertwined,
In this twilight dance,
my fractured mind.
