Juanita

"No one is needed",
Juanita reflects.
"I'm in this alone!"
Her mind misdirects.
She covets her seclusion,
like a flower covets water,
she forgets that she is
someone's ownÂ
loving daughter.
Juanita abounds inÂ
her world of self.
She demands attention,
placed high on the shelf.
She fears second class,
so fiercely, so bold.
Only one fear grows deeper;
getting ugly, getting old.
So she lives for today,
not wanting to admit,
today is tomorrow,
it beckons in a fit.
So she does what we do,
pretending to see,
this world full of glamour,
"It's all about me!"
She swallows her pill,
and the ink on her shoulder,
make her feel she is strong,
pretends she is bolder.
Yet the little girl inside,
knows the story that is real.
The little girl inside,
knows the truth;
an ordeal.
Juanita, shuns
that little girl inside,
and only sees theÂ
woman, alone
who hides.
It is all she needs,
this woman alone,
alone amongst many,
together it is known;
we feel as one,
yet we are one,
all alone.

Poignant, Wonderfully written I like the way you capture and describe what the feeling of loneliness means to the character.
