Just a Few Miss. Lock Memories
every single bloomin word is true ..
Don’t ask me what year it was
I just can’t recall it
but I do remember her name ..
Oh’ yes, and those legs of course
and the liberty-cap hairstyle
she wore all through term time
which someone
once told me was cut, by a fella
they all for some reason
or other, called Vidal Sassoon ..
Although, to be fair
if I am totally honest, I also recall
the length of her skirts,
that were in fact, no length at all ..
Yes, those were
the main things I most clearly
remember about dear Miss Lock,
my first love
and primary school teacher ..
Who by the way,
taught me my alphabet, and then
later to read ..
Indeed, on her birthday I once
wrote her a poem
and she did thank me with a blush
plus a kiss on the cheek ..
And boy, did I come over all funny
and never washed
the whole of my face for a week ..
But of course,
that was years back and how things
have changed ..
Some say I am older and wiser maybe
I still feel a kid tho
and my knees invariably go weak ..
When I think of
Miss Lock and that kiss on the cheek ..

Awwww.... this poem is delightful! Such innocence there... how times have changed. Fab poem x
They have indeed Tina .. but I've remained just the same .. I don't mean that I wander around in shorts, ankle socks and sandals .. or carry an apple in my satchel .. or stand just over three foot one and a half inches tall .. I mean delightful and innocent .. blah de blah de blah :) x
Oops, I almost forgot to bloomin thank you for popping in .. Thank you for popping in x
Neville you get 5 stars just for the amazing feat of remembering your teachers name!! I don't remember one of mine, the only thing I clearly recall is chalk missiles sailing through the classrooms....thrown by teachers!!! ...they should definitely bring THAT back...🙂🙃😆x
She was kind of special M and I guess in a way, she kinda kick started my passion for poetry and is therefore responsible for the addiction I have to this day .. ta for them stars, they are muchly appreciated ...
By the way, I also remember them lengths of chalk and blackboard wipers with the wooden back and cloth face etc etc being lobbed across the classroom .. very often at me ..
I also remember Mr. Brummel ....................... ouch but that's another story altogether 🙂🙃 x
Aw that's lovely...not the wipers, yea I remember those too, it's hard to believe now isn't it lol...bring it all back I say anyway!😆...no, the fact that you remember actually being inspired by a teacher! Beautiful...I shall tell my daughter it so that she might know that it is actually possible to make a difference to a child's life as she is pretty pissed with teaching at mo...hugs X
I maybe understand how she might feel .. give her a pat on the back from me would ya x
