JUST A LITTLE REST

JUST A LITTLE REST
I don’t need your sorrow, nor your pity or your shame
I just need a little time to learn how to play this game
The rules are always changing nothing ever stays the same
I just need a little rest to ease this endless pain
Find a pillow for my head wake me up before I’m dead
Then tell me it was all just a bad dream
And all the trouble and the strife were never in my life
And the road ahead is filled with happiness
My wife has left me, my mother died, my parents kicked me out
I drink a little more than I should, I have so many doubts
My husband lost his mind today and gave us all a clout
and I just need a little rest to sort my problems out
These are just some of the reasons people live upon the streets
So have a little empathy for the homeless that we meet
A little smile, an encouraging word to help them get on their feet
For when they’ve had their little rest they will quietly retreat
They know where to get a little food the Salvo’s up the road
although there not religious people it eases their heavy load
They wander round the streets by day, and slowly they erode
all they need is a little rest before there mind explodes
The game they found so hard to play is the game that we call life
There in a jungle with so many vines entangling them in strife
and all they need to get them through is a simple magic knife
filled with love and understanding and encouragement that’s rife
This is just a little thought that may help them find the light
When darkness is all around them and their world’s an endless night
“CLOSE YOUR EYES, LOOK INSIDE YOUR HEART AND SAY, TIME TO IGNITE
AND LET THE FLAMES OF POSITIVITY BE YOUR GUIDING LIGHT”
JUST A LITTLE REST
