just a Rubik’s cube

it’s random but it’s now a goal of mine
to learn to solve a Rubik’s cube this weekend
puzzles are enticing and this one especially 
but it’s also for someone
one of my best friends right now
she and I are relatively similar
flag football, basketball, 
toxic feminism forced upon us
want someone we can’t have
have a greater path in life but
don’t know what that is
overthinkers, overachievers 
pressure on us to be the best
same taste
same family problems
she’s also
way smarter than me
taking math five years above grade level
my quarterback
and one of the only people I talk to about
the big things
especially the one right now
i don’t owe her anything
but I want to learn how to solve a Rubik’s cube
maybe then we’ll know 
how to solve our problems
