Just A Step Away
We all are just
A step away
From crossing
Into a black hole
The abyss
Of our conscious
Where infinity
Meets a terminable end
And the soul
Is lost
To an insatiable
Nightmare
That seduces
Our reasoning
Into a permanent
State of insanity.
Thank you for your service
Your pain will not be
Forgotten
Nor the mission you attempted
To execute.
No judgement here
Just s sadness
That overwhelms all
Who knew you.
May your journey
Through the sea
Of the afterworld
Take you to calm water
Where your
Anchor
Is peace

It is to a sailor who allowed his demons to overtake his sanity. A murder suicide. A tragedy. He ate and drank from my house. He was my son's room mate in Recon training. It has been a year and we still feel the pain and sorrow.
Such a shame, Greg.
I'm sure you'll feel some residual effects for the rest of your lives.
