Just as the Sun was Rising

Just as the Sun was Rising

Β
In a world that leaves me feeling deflated and disappointed
I refuse to believe
that this is my lot in life
Β
sometimes I close my eyes
imagining my very own imagery
Β
I can see the sunflowers
smiling in the meadows
streaming with light
in that one crucial moment
when the sun
finally beams onto their sleeping facesΒ
waking them with a start every time
Β
and the magnificent orchestra of birds
singing their daily opera
reminding me i'm aliveΒ
Β
and that very moment
when the sun beams
reach
the terracotta roof of the villa
perched on the hill
almost as if
it was protected by a glow Β
Β
clouds moving gently
to the sideΒ
leaving fresh air
and lavender perfume
for all to savorΒ  Β
Β
in a world that leaves me feeling
deflated and disappointed
I refuse to believe that this is my lot in life
Β
I close my eyes and I imagine
Β
and i see once againΒ
the great deer visit me in my back yardΒ
Β
just as he used too
many moons ago
Β
just as the sun was rising.
Β

Morning my dear Shirley. Chucking it down here so your poem has taken me to another place. The picture, beautiful though it is, is not really needed. Your words paint such a perfect picture.Β
I like the repetition of the first verse later on in the poem and within that I love the alliteration but then you probably knew I would. And the alliteration in the third verse.Β
Love the description of the clouds moving gently to the side. Oh to be visited by a deer. I mean we have squirrels and cats but no deer. That must have been special.Β
As is your poem. My favourite part has to be the verse about the clouds. Given how obsessed I am with clouds it had to be that but that verse is stunning. A triumph my dear poet friend. 🌹

Good morning my dear Bernie, hey another funny thing I adore clouds and see all the pictures in them, I have done since I was a child. Funny how I married a physicist who works with optics. Ah yet another amazing review, I have a poem of my deer, as in the COVID moments he used to visit out the back. It was truly a wonderful moment, so yes features in my poetry he may pop up from time to time. Always such a pleasure to hear what you think of my scribbles dear Bernie, forever grateful to you dear friend. 🌹

Pictures in clouds - one of my favourite subjects for poetry other than the obvious one. You are very welcome dear Shirley. 🌹
